Memories...

I got this great idea from Cindy, a high school friend of mine.

Here are the directions:
1. Add a comment on our blog of a memory or two that you and any one of us (individually, not collectively) had together. It can be anything fun that you remember. It doesn't matter if you knew us a little or a lot or not at all, just put any memories you have.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, we'll leave our memory of you in our comments. Try to keep it going on your blogs, too.

This is fun! We are eagerly looking forward to your memories!

I remember the many times Jas and Mia would crawl up into my lap, with a favorite book, and tell me to read them a story.

I would read the story and as soon as I was done one of them would say, "Read it again!"

One time we three were sitting in the recliner in the Sun Room and I was reading a book to them while they "slurped" noodles. The noodles were flying everywhere and finally I said, "I can't take the noodles anymore!" And the girls just gave me a puzzled look and kept on slurping.

What do I remember about you? I remember going to your house with Mi Kim the summer after freshman year. We were in your backyard and you were talking about Karate Kid and showing us dance moves. I also remember sitting by you and having a good time in humanities together. You were always so nice and fun to be around. It's great to catch up with you a little and it looks like you've got a great life with your family here!

Every time I unload the dishwasher and hear the clanking sound of each knife, fork and spoon dropping into the silverware drawer, I think of Ben.
In one place we lived, his bedroom was right off the kitchen. One morning when he wanted to sleep late, and I was noisily unloading the dishwasher, he stomped into the kitchen and announced that "It sounds like a sword fight is going on in here!"
I laughed out loud then, and I still laugh, or at least smile, every time I put the silverware away.
Thanks, Ben, for such a hilarious memory!

I loved Cindy's memory, because it was from a time when we did not yet know Ada. How fun, to think of Ada as a thirteen or fourteen year old doing dance moves with her friends in the backyard!

One of my favorite memories is one time Ben and I were washing one of our cars at one of those do it yourself car washes in Hawaii. I wanted to spray Ben but before I did, I wanted to test the high pressure sprayer to make sure it wouldn't hurt Ben. So, I sprayed myself point blank in the forehead. The highly pressured water ripped a star looking patch of skin off my forehead and the star scar was their for months it seems. Anyway, I guess it was better than ripping skin off of Ben.

ROFL! J, I've always suspected an altruistic nature in you.

The earliest memory I have of the Carson family is from the first time I had dinner at your home in Hawaii. The home was SPOTLESS and BEAUTIFUL and I remember a bit on the COOL side even in Hawaii's tropical climate. The surroundings gave me the impression that this family was well traveled. Quinton and Jared were watching t.v. and piled around them were blue and white throw pillows. I thought, hmmm... looks comfy, wonder if they spend a lot of time there. Just then Dad Carson walked in, I guessed from spending the day at work. You were very cheerful, very fit looking, and seemed to have a spring in your step. Ben later told me it was because you walked to and from work daily. Mom Carson was just finishing getting dinner on the table. It looked perfect, not a spoon out of place. You were very gracious and I had the impression that you were a reserved and thoughtful person. Dinner was lima beans, lemonade, and not sure but something like pork cutlets and potatoes. I immediately thought, wow...they're very healthy eaters, can't remember when the last time I had lima beans. And I didn't like lima beans so I secretly dished them onto Ben's plate when no one was looking. It seemed I had gone back in time maybe 50 years and walked into Pleasantville!

Thanks Ada, your memory of coming to our home brought to mind happy recollections of our time in Hawaii. We are grateful for that memorable day when you walked into our home and into our hearts. We are glad you decided to stay!
